(Just watched the Preakness)
The filly has won, and all is right with the world.
5 dollars on the nose baby! Whatever the hell that means.
I might get to meet Rachel because I'm related to the people who own her.
I feel like royalty even though last year my dad was invited to watch the race in the grand stands and passed because he referred to himself as (and I quote) "more of a redneck" and would fit in more with the people partying down closer to the track.
Great job Daddy, I can feel Rachel slipping away right now.
Oh well, it doesn't matter...
Because he hit the trifecta AND THE EXACTA!!!
(proceeds to scream)
I am so gettin' a pony on Christmas.
I almost got over the fact that no one bet on Rags to Riches for me 2 years ago, and that when someone bet on Eight Bells last year, she had to be put down.
My heart goes out to you ladies.
Also to all the horses who get injured in/before a race and have to be put down.
So is the life of a race horse.
Good thing I'm a Clydesdale...
Best day of the week so far, which of course isn't saying much.
Sunday: Wake up with a bitchy cough
Monday: More crappy symtoms
Tuesday: Dad pulls me out of school and, being the oh-so classic over protective father he is, takes me to the ER.
Swine flu is officially ruining my life.
The hospital is practically 3 minutes away from the school, so that's enough time for him to listen to my coughing and make his "mission" more urgent.
My dad tells the receptionist bluntly, may I add, "I think she might have SWINE FLU!"
Okay, so he didn't scream, but he might as well have.
All this fuss about the swine flu put me in front of the line, which at first seems pretty good.
It isn't.
Some lady comes out into the waiting room (pft! waiting. I could be dying by the minute.) and tells me to put on an air mask saying its for respiratory problems.
Yeah, the fact that the swine flu is slowly cornering my county has NOTHING to do with this.
I get to my room/section and sit on the bed glaring at my father who seems to find this more humorous as time crawls by.
Soon, a doctor comes and seems to keep as much distance between us as possible.
Then says she has to take a sample to see if I have the swine flu.
Oh, okay, that makes sens-HOLY -(censoring censoring)
She sticks a friggin stick up my nose! Twice! I swear to got 6 inches of the stick were missing! It tickled my brain and it HUUUUURRRRRRTTT!
The rest of the week is meaningless up until SaturdayI had to kill something...
That or lock myself in my room and proceed to bitch and moan.
".... bitch... moan....didn't even have it... bitch"
Bitching was my drug. The Preakness was my intervention. Rachel Alexandra is my new drug.
I am extremely proud to me a (last name here)...(its not the last name of the owners. I'm barely related to them)...(What? its true!)...(Fine! Don't believe me! Try to track me down! You ain't gonna find anything!)...(Bastards)
I'm getting a few hundred dollars!
God, I love this country.
So, in the words of me... This is good...

I suffer from a medical condition called RPTIS.
[Random Periods of Temporary Insanity Syndrome]
So if I say anything weird, that's why. No need to be alarmed, it's completely natural.

Courage is not the absense of fear but rather the decision that something is more important than fear.
